Preliminary hearing in homicide

Preliminary hearings have been scheduled for two men facing first degree murder charges in the death of a Midwest City man last September. First degree murder charges against Steven Roberts, 55, and Virgil Earl Nelson, 67 were filed Dec. 21, 2021.

Former Tryon officials charged

Three former officials with the City of Tryon face embezzlement and conspiracy charges as the result of a special investigative audit released three months ago. Bench warrants were originally issued for the arrest of the three. Each charge filed against the three is a felony.

Meeker names Valedictorian and Salutatorian

Meeker High School named Breanna Pearcy as Valedictorian and Mary Beth Frerichs as Salutatorian for 2022. The students were recognized at the commencement ceremony, Friday, May 13, 7:30 pm at Firelake Arena, in Shawnee.

Seamster’s motion denied

A motion to dismiss a first degree murder charge against a Wellston man was denied Monday in Lincoln County District Court following a daylong evidentiary hearing.

Chandler board of education meeting

The Chandler Board of Education this week hired a Secondary teacher and coach and also accepted several resignations from those either retiring or moving. School Supt. Melody Toma said that following an executive session, the board returned to open meeting and employed A.J.

Six charges in arrest

Six charges, one felony and five misdemeanors, have been filed after Stroud police arrested a driver during a traffic stop. Formal charges were filed April 7 in Lincoln County District Court against Daniel Frank Kozlowski, 43, of Bristow.
