Charges for Stroud man

A Stroud resident faces a felony charge following his arrest in late January by Lincoln County deputies. Jerry Willard Ashcraft, Jr., 41, 616 6th Avenue in Stroud, who has several aliases, has been charged in Lincoln County District Court with larceny of automobile, aircraft or other motor vehicle.

Dale board rehires Wilkins, Widner

The Dale Board of Education this week renewed the contract of Acting School Supt. and Secondary Principal Ky Wilkins and Assistant Principal J.D. Widner. The board members also accepted the letter of retirement of Elementary Principal Bruce Throckmorton.

Lincoln County Commissioners

Lincoln County Commissioners this week approved an estimate of monthly spending for the new Purchase card system and established the number of cards to be used. They voted 3-0 to allow three cards and a spending limit of $5,000 each month per card.

Democrats plan for future meetings

Due to the continued spread of the coronavirus, the Lincoln County Democrats will not meet in February. Chairman Bob Hightower urged all members to consider signing up for the coronavirus vaccine at the Oklahoma Dept. of Human Services website.

It’s Homecoming season in Central Oklahoma. Stroud had its Homecoming Friday, Meeker had its celebration on Saturday and Chandler will have its homecoming coronation at 6 p.m. Thursday. Above is the Stroud court.

Expansion at Mint Turbines

Mint Turbines in Stroud has announced an expansion that is bringing additional jobs to town. Danny Hickman, T-53 customer service manager and in charge of all government contracts for Mint Turbines, said the company employs about 46 people and will add another 20 to 30.

Marak’s milk: From the farm to the fridge

When Travis Marak graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma in 2007 with a degree in Photojournalism, he had little aspirations of running the family dairy farm he grew up on north of Meeker.

Fee hike at Meeker Lake

The Meeker Town Board has approved an ordinance amending the lake fees at the Meeker Lake. The board also approved the emergency clause putting the new fees and permits into place on Feb. 1 of this year. Board members took the action during their meeting last week.
