Snovel earns arts award

Chandler senior Emmerson Snovel was among 141 students honored with the Arts Excellence Award on April 23. Snovel won the award in the Drama/ Theatre category and received it at a ceremony on Tuesday.

Stroud: Burglary charges filed

A Stroud man who admitted he and another individual were inside a building when it went up in flames last October has been charged with burglary. Formal charges of second degree burglary were filed in Lincoln County District Court March 26 against Joshua Dylan Standley, 33.

Not guilty plea on rape charge

A defendant facing two first degree rape charges has pleaded not guilty and has waived a speedy trial. Two felony charges of first degree rape with a victim under 14 were filed in Lincoln County District Court Jan.

Wellston man charged with kidnapping

A Wellston man, previously convicted of several felonies, faces two more following his arrest by Lincoln County deputies recently Dallas Allen Steele, 36, was charged on April 12 this year in Lincoln County District Court with kidnapping and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, both felonies.

Storm damage

An early morning storm that struck the Stroud area last Friday has virtually destroyed an apartment complex that was under renovation, the owner said this week. Some Lincoln County residents also were continuing to clean up this week following weekend storms that caused power outages, lots of damage to trees and some outbuildings.

Sherry Bryant: Hunger hero

Sherry Bryant got the surprise of her life on April 24. The food service worker at Carney Public Schools walked into the multipurpose room that afternoon to find almost the entire student body, teachers and her three children cheering for her.
