Charges in rape case

A Chandler man faces multiple rape charges after he was arrested recently by Lincoln County deputies. One count of first degree rape, two counts of second degree rape and one charge of forcible oral sodomy were formally filed in Lincoln County District Court Jan. 9 against Dazshawne Stapp, 25.

Race develops in Chandler

Several races developed during the three-day filing period for municipal offices in cities and towns in Lincoln County and some won positions when they were unopposed. Kent McVey and Tony Wilson each filed in the race to be Chandler’s mayor. Current Mayor Gene Imel did not seek another term.

Bond, tax issue pass

Lincoln County voters approved renewal of a one percent sales tax and Chandler school patrons overwhelmingly approved a $3.8 million bond issue in Tuesday’s election. The sales tax renewal passed with 1,285 yes votes to 346 no.

Commissioners approve lot application

Lincoln County commissioners this week approved application to the Central Oklahoma Economic Development District (COEDD) for a Community Development Block Grant for a handicap parking lot at the Lincoln County Fairgrounds.

Chandler livestock show

Chandler will have its local 4H and FFA livestock show Saturday at the Lincoln County Fairgrounds. Cards are due at 9 a.m. and the show starts at 10. Showmanship will be after each species, peewee through adult.

Valentine’s Day dance

Citizens for the Improvement of Chandler will have a Valentine’s Day dance for seventh- through ninth-graders from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Douglas Gym. The cost is $3 each.

Hearing set for Wellston attorney

A Preliminary hearing has been scheduled for aWellston attorney facing five drug related charges who reportedly violated a judge’s order and is now held without bail. Formal felony charges were filed in Lincoln County District Court Dec. 6 against Debra Dawn Campbell, 59.

Dale accepts resignation of high school principal
