Town Talk along with the American Legion and the American Legion Auxiliary will hold a Memorial Day Ceremony at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 25th at the Stroud Cemetery. There will be a short program and a 21-gun salute to honor our deceased veterans.

Area residents at IFYR

Area locals Olivia Alls, Reed Richison and Kenzie Cowden are competing in the International Finals Youth Rodeo which is from June 11-16. The competition will be at the Heart of Oklahoma Exposition Center in Shawnee, Oklahoma.

Area schools receive counselor grants

Chandler, Prague, North Rock Creek and White Rock Public Schools received a total of $418,800 in grant money from the Oklahoma State Department of Education to pay for a school counselor. Each school was given a sum of money to be used over the next three years.

Senior citizen’s Center reopens

The Senior Citizens Center’s dining room in Chandler reopened after being closed for months due to the pandemic. The center serves a meal Monday through Friday at noon, and is a space where seniors can come together, have community and a meal together.

Charges in chase

Three felonies and a misdemeanor were filed recently against a Cushing man following a pursuit in Lincoln County that reached speeds of over 100 miles per hour. Lincoln County deputies arrested Tyler Zachary Zane Flint, 22, and booked him into the Lincoln County Jail in Chandler.

COVID cases continue climb

There’s been a double digit jump in new positive COVID-19 cases in Pottawatomie and Lincoln Counties since the last report, Oklahoma State Department of Health figures show. However, no new deaths have occurred in either county during that same period, according to the OSDH.
