Area Christmas season kicks off Friday

With the sun setting earlier and the temperatures dropping, the holiday season has arrived. Throughout Lincoln County there are seasonal events for the family to enjoy. The Chandler Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting the Chandler Christmas Tree Lighting Friday, Dec. 4 at 6:30 p.m.

School board office filing period opens next week

The filing period for school board offices in Lincoln and Pottawatomie Counties opens next Monday, Dec. 7, and runs through Wednesday, Dec. 9, the two Election Board secretaries have announced. The filing period for districts across the state is the same time.

Commissioners accepts Apprentice bid

Lincoln County commissioners on Tuesday accepted a bid from Apprentice to enable Emergency Management’s room to be connected to the courthouse IT infrastructure. County Clerk Alicia Wagnon said commissioners approved the $10,532 bid from Apprentice.

COVID cases in area still surging

The number of people testing positive for COVID-19 across Oklahoma again increased significantly over the past week and the surge continues in Pottawatomie and Lincoln Counties as well.

The Stroud American Legion Auxiliary met Monday, Nov. 9. Members attending were Julie Bivin, Linda Waller, Pam Hunt, Aleta Smalley, Delores Hamlin, Diana Reed, Cindy Mason, Sandy Jones, Jo Braden, Cathy Terry and Marsha Morgan.

Warhol garden

Kindra wanted to get some purple sweet potatoes on Saturday, so we set off for the wilds of Oklahoma City, where a health food store had them for about $1.50 a pound. We bought five or six big ones, enough for a pie or two and some extras for eating.
