Town Talk is busier than ever working on community projects. We start work this week on minor makeovers for some of our downtown businesses. The side of the building that was in my youth Parker’s Flower Shop is getting a fresh coat of paint and then will have an “art type” motif painted on it.

Wide awake

Monday afternoon, my nose was running like a candidate for public office. That and the sneezing fit that came later meant one thing: allergy attack. That happens this time of year, what with ragweed and dust making their annual statements.

Fond memories of family lunches

Recently, my wife Pat, our daughter Meghan, our grandson Liam, Pat’s sister Nellie and their mother Ruth Davis and I had one of the most enjoyable lunches we’ve had in a long, long time. It was really impromptu. But it was so much fun. There wasn’t a lot of planning.

Stroud American Legion Post inducts new commander

Michael Horwath was recently installed as the new commander for the Stroud American Legion Post #257. Horwath takes over the leadership position from Commander Chuck Quinn. Originally from Vassar, Michigan Horwath moved to Stroud from Pinetop-Lakeside, Arizona.

It was another busy Saturday this past weekend as Town Talk hosted its monthly Farmer’s Market. Town Talk volunteer and market organizer Mandy Clark had lots of fun activities this month as well as many local and area vendors with their wares for sell.

The dating world in 2020

Dating is hard. Dating in 2020 with a global pandemic is even harder. It’s like trying to eat mashed potatoes with a straw. No matter how much effort you put into it, it just sucks and there’s no reward. As a single woman who lives alone, the quarantine was hard.

My doc called me on Monday to give me the results of some blood work from Friday. For several years, I have gotten the same general comments: “Your good choles “Your good cholesterol is a little low, and your bad cholesterol is a little high. Aerobic exercise will help that.

1. Update on Meeker Lake Quapaw 15 Project A. Jeff Dean, Senior Engineer, GED Technical Services returned my call about the soil samples. He blamed the hold up on COVID19 and said they were done with their lab reports and have been turned over to another agency for their report.
