A Chandler man facing a felony charge of domestic abuse by strangulation has pleaded not guilty and a trial date has been set. following a reported incident at a Chandler residence has waived his preliminary hearing.

A pre-preliminary hearing has been continued for a driver facing four charges after he reportedly led Stroud police on a high speed pursuit and was arrested.

Wellston Elementary School has received a grant from the Oklahoma Energy Resources Board for robotics kits that are being used to implement computer science through robotics. Susan Way, Elementary Principal, said the OERB grant totals $2,875 for five robotics kits.

Alfred “Ray” Smothers, of Chandler, Oklahoma, passed away on Thursday, August 24th, 2023, in Stroud, Oklahoma at the age of 89. Ray was born on July 6, 1934 in Chandler. He was the son of Yulise Andrew and Rosa Lee (Yarbrough) Smothers.
