A drug task force officer driving on US 66 spotted the tops of marijuna plants growing above a privacy fence last week, leading to a seizure of plants valued at up to $1 million. It was the third illegal marijuana grow operation in Lincoln County since the middle of June.

The number of new positive COVID-19 cases in Pottawatomie and Lincoln Counties has risen by triple digits since the last report, Oklahoma State Department of Health figures show. Two new deaths also have been reported, one in each county, according to the OSDH.

Mae “Mayo” Delores Crain was born September 16, 1928, in San Antonio, Texas. She died Friday, July 30, 2021, at the age of 92 years. Crain, the daughter of Onofre H. “Ono” Hill and Feliz Tafolla, married Orin “Bud” Crain on September 16, 1946, in Kansas.

A funeral will be held for Darrell Roy Wakley at 2 p.m., Friday, August 6, 2021, in the chapel of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston, which handled the final arrangements. Burial will follow at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery near Chandler.
