Championships for Dale, North Rock Creek

The Dale and North Rock Creek boys teams won tournament championships last week, with Dale taking the crown at the Cashion tournament and North Rock Creek winning the Tri-County Invitational, held at the Cougars’ own gym.

Disk golf

Friday was a beautiful day for late January and disk golfers took full advantage of it. The fivesome of Robert Spurlock, Harley Pettitt, Justin Hoover, Blake Ivie and Logan Pettitt made up one of many groups playing at McLoud’s course along the walking trail in the Lawrence Wahpepah Park.

Tim Ray McBride

On Thursday January 21, 2021, Tim Ray McBride of Chandler, Okla., passed away at age 58. Tim was born in Morse Mill, Mo., on December 30, 1962 to Don and Betty Hayden McBride. He graduated from Edmond Memorial High School, class of 1981.

Betty Charlene Thompson

Betty Charlene Thompson of Chandler was born February 11, 1948, in Okemah, Okla. She died Sunday, January 17, 2021, in Chandler at the age of 72 years. Thompson married Rick Thompson on June 26, 1999 in Davenport. She was a housewife and mother and retired from working in sales.

Raymond Lyal Newman

Raymond Lyal Newman was born January 19, 1957, in Oklahoma City and died Friday, January 22, 2021, in Shawnee, Okla. He was 64 years old.

Danny Joe Hodge

Danny Joe Hodge was born February 9, 1952, in Chandler and died Thursday, January 21, 2021, in Shawnee, Okla. He was 68 years old. A 1970 graduate of Davenport High School, Hodge served in the United States Air Force and raised exotic birds and animals.

Chaiyo Martzall

Chaiyo Martzall of Chandler was born July 19, 1967, in Thailand. He died Wednesday, January 20, 2021, in Shawnee, Okla., at the age of 53 years. Martzall, the son of Henry Martzall and Lamoa “Toy” Klaman, married Edie Borrson on September 14, 1996, in Chandler.

Allen George Baker

Allen George Baker was born June 27, 1931 in rural Slick, Okla., to Pete and Dorothy Baker. He passed away January 17, 2021, surround by family, at the age of 89 years 6 months and 21 days. Allen was born and raised on a cattle ranch in Creek County, Okla., where his dad was a ranch foreman.
