The Prague Christmas Tree Project is taking applications from families residing in the Prague School District who feel they will need ssistance at Christmas.
Applications will be accepted through November 19 at Calvary Way Church 2525 W. Main during officer hours, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Isaiah Camren of Prague and Samantha Beavers of Stroud were among 29 Seminole State College students inducted into the Alpha Theta Nu Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society for Two-Year Colleges.
Chandler High School senior Victoria Barton is presented a check for $7,651.75 as winner of the Sparks America Scholarship. All Lincoln County students were invited to submit an essay to be considered for the award.
Meeker High School
Officials at Meeker High School have released the honor rolls for the first nine weeks of the 2020-2021 school year.
The following students were named to the Superintendent’s Honor Roll.
Freshmen: Darick Carney.
Sophomores: Maleah Blankenship, Brittany McDoulett and Levi Wynn.
The Chandler Public Library received 23 new books the first of the month for all ages. Added to the shelves are Jeff Kinney’s new “Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Deep End” and young adult writer Rick Riordan’s new book in the Trials of Apollo series, “The Tower of Nero.
The Lincoln County Treasurer and Lincoln County Court Clerk announced the opening of a drive thru service for the public’s convenience. Operating hours will be 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, except for holidays.
Connor Benn and Annsley Babek of the Meeker FFA Chapter display the plaques they were awarded at the Wellston Speech Contest Tuesday evening. Benn placed first in the Senior Science division. Babek took second place in the FFA Creed Division.
First Baptist Churches in Chandler and Prague will serve as collection sites for shoebox gifts contributed to the Samaritan’s Purse project, Operation Christmas Child. During the project’s National Collection Week, Nov.
Tree Lighting Festival
The Chandler Area Chamber of Commerce will kick off the Christmas season, 6 p.m., Friday, Dec. 4, with the Second Annual Tree Lighting Festival in Downtown Chandler at the Lincoln County Courthouse. The event will continue until 8 p.m. at which time the tree will be lit.
