Football scrimmages

Most area schools hit the field last week for football practice and had their annual intra-squads on Friday and Saturday. Top right, Prague head coach Mike Hedge talks to the Red Devils following their intra-squad Friday night. The Red Devils will host North Rock Creek in scrimmage at 6 p.m.

Town Talk

Thank you to Town Talk volunteer Mandy Clark for all her hard work on another successful Farmer’s Market. I was out of town and did not get to attend but heard rave reviews and saw many positive comments on Facebook. Town Talk appreciates all our local folks who come out to support this event.

Bride-to-be Anita Reynolds, along with her sister Rita from Oklahoma City, Marilyn Wheeler and Robin Smith made a surprise visit to Prairie Pointe Saturday afternoon.

Jeremiah Silas Martin

Jeremiah “Sy” Silas Martin was born January 2, 1976, in Clovis, N.M. He died Sunday, August 9, 2020, in Stroud at the age of 44 years. Martin served in the United States Navy and was an oil field operator. His father John Stanley Martin preceded him in death.

Don McCollough

Don McCollough was born April 7, 1937, in Shattuck Okla. He died Friday, August 14, 2020, in Oklahoma City at the age of 83 years. McCollough, the son of W.D. and Ida (Appel) Mc-Collough, married Marilyn Ann Forester on July 24, 1960, in Arnett, Okla.

Donna Sue Hancock

Donna Sue Hancock of Wellston was born June 25, 1951, in Oklahoma City. She died Sunday, August 16, 2020, at the age of 69 years. Hancock, the daughter of Paul and Virginia Larkin, married Ronal Hancock February 23, 1974, in Oklahoma City. She graduated from high school in 1969 in Pryor, Okla.

Douglas Ben Castleberry

Douglas Ben Castleberry (Doug) 63, passed from this life on August 15, 2020 in Stroud, Oklahoma. He was born in Cushing, Oklahoma on October 18, 1956 to Charles Ben and Etta Mae (Winkleman) Castleberry. Doug grew up in and around Stroud and graduated in 1974 from Davenport High School.

George Lee Gann

A funeral service will be held for George Lee Gann at 2 p.m., today, August 20, 2020, at Davenport First Baptist Church with Bro. Mike Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow at Stroud Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Stroud. Gann was born to John D.

James Lindel Buchanan

James Lindel Buchanan was born January 13, 1943, in Hinton, Okla. He died Monday, August 10, 2020, in Davenport at the age of 77 years. Buchanan, the son of Clinton and Ila (Johnson) Buchanan, married Barbara (Green) Buchanan on June 3, 1961.
