Chandler school board

The Chandler School Board had a relatively quick meeting on Monday.It voted to approve the school lease agreement for the 83.51 acres, with the terms beginning Jan. 1, 2026 and ending on Dec. 31. 2026. An auction is to be held at the superintendent’s office on Friday, Dec. 5 at 9 a.m.

Chandler speech, drama shine

It’s been a strong week for the Chandler High School speech and drama department.On Saturday, students competed at a speech and debate competition at Mount St. Mary’s Catholic High School, taking home second place overall in 4A.

Lincoln County Commission

Lincoln County commissioners have approved applications and other related documents to a REAP Grant for a project in District 3.Their action came during a special county commissioners meeting last week.

White chosen Christmas Queen

Mattie White has been named the 2025 Chandler Christmas Festival Queen.The senior was among 13 candidates who applied for the honor and was selected by a committee of judges. White will receive a $1,000 scholarship for the honor.

Veterans Day winners

The Chandler Junior High Student Council held its annual Veterans Day contests to honor veterans in the community, according to advisor Pam Anderson.

Meeker board approves dates

Meeker Board of Education members this week approved board meeting dates for2026andwerepresented the College Remediation Report.They also heard the Middle School and High School Drop out report.

SFD collects food to help Stroud Food Pantry

The Stroud Fire Department and a brigade of teen volunteers set out on Nov. 4 to collect non-perishable food items for their annual canned food drive. This year, they collected a total of 1,658 pounds of food and 31.8 pounds of non-food items, according to the Stroud Food Pantry.

Office No. 1 in Dale school board open

Dale Board of Education members adopted a resolution this week for the annual school election for Board of Education Office.Office No. 1 will be on the ballot and that is currently held by longtime member Tim Collins.

Veterans Day

Several people have inquired recently if I’ve been quail hunting yet this year. The season just opened last Saturday and my response has been the same to each one of them that I didn’t open the season and I’m not sure I am going to get to go this season since I have cancer.
