Letters to the editor

White Rock Public School’s board has violated its own policies, Oklahoma State School Board Association (OSSBA) guidelines, and the Open Meetings Act. As a result, seven of the school’s 13 teachers are resigning. No plan has been shared to stabilize the situation, and time is running out.

Thankful for Trump

Thank the Lord that Pres. Trump has the fortitude to force all the countries that have been sticking it to the U.S. for so long on tariffs to come to the table and start to treat the U.S. with respect again. I haven’t had any problems yet from the tariffs (trade war).

Spring has sprung in Stroud, Oklahoma. Thank you to Nissa Hughes, Vivian Henshaw, Julie Bivin and Andrea Thompson for painting bicycles and planting flowers to give our Main Street that look that says, “Welcome to our town.” These ladies put in many late-night hours to make this all come together.

Opening performance of the 33rd annual International Finals Youth Rodeo at the Heart of Oklahoma Exposition Center in Shawnee is just a little over two months away.Entries opened on April 1 and they close on June 13.But things could be a little different for this year’s IFYR.

Local school boards, like all other public entities, are expected to comply with the state’s Open Meeting Law.In fact school board members are required to attend and complete a certain number of hours of education and the Open Meeting Act is part of that.There’s a good reason for the law.
