Oklahoma lawmakers have filed more than 3,200 pieces of legislation for the upcoming session that begins next Monday, Feb. 3.We’re not sure yet what all they entail, but an issue which needs addressing is prison reform.

Kindra has recently developed an interest in the Branch Davidians, so we slipped away for a weekend trip to Waco so she could visit the site of the old compound at Mount Carmel.Overall, it was an interesting trip.We rented a tiny house north of town for two nights and had a cozy stay.

Since the latest wave of arctic and what they describe as Siberian air struck the area last Saturday, I haven’t ventured out a lot. Oh, I got out and went to church Saturday evening so I wouldn’t have to get up quite so early Sunday.

Our first winter storm for the new year brought us lots of the white stuff and from what I could see and have heard there were not a lot of problems associated with this one.That’s always good news. We had a reported 5½ inches of snow here in this area.

A couple of legislators, one a House member, the other a Senator, have filed bills to gradually phase out and eliminate the state personal and corporate income tax over a decade with the goal of eliminating the tax entirely by 2035.State Rep.

Wreaths Across Stroud is taking place this year on Sunday, December 15th at 1:30 p.m. at Stroud Cemetery. There will be a short program in remembrance of our veterans and then we will lay wreaths on each veteran’s grave. We ask all community members to come out and help us honor these men and women.

This Christmas coming up in a few days may be the greatest ever. It was 43 years ago at this time that my wife Pat and I were anxiously arrival of our child.Meghan Kathleen didn’t actually arrive until about six weeks after Christmas in early February. We were grateful when she was born.
