Carney continues renovations at school baseball, softball fields

Joe Wilson said, in a special meeting of the Carney Board of Education June 8, that the sidewalk had been finished and that work was started on the softball fence and relocating the bleachers for the baseball and softball fields.

A common love brought Alana Owen, Dawna Weaver and Veva Jiles, pictured to the right, together. A love that they want to share with others - the love of life on the back of a horse. Alana Owen got her first horse when she was five years old and has been riding for over 52 years.

Meeker awards high school athletes

COVID-19 may have cancelled the 2020 spring sport season, but it couldn’t cancel Meeker High School from acknowledging their athletes. Listed below are the individual awards and the athletes that received them according to the sport.

Schools award athletes

Although this year’s spring sports season came to an abrupt halt this year, many schools across Lincoln and Pottawattomie County still awarded their athletes with Athletic Awards. Stroud High School Stroud High School awarded their athletes in each sport.

Candidates named for Girls, Boys State

The 2020 American Legion Auxiliary Oklahoma Girls State and Oklahoma American Legion Boys State were cancelled due to COVID-19. “Boys and Girls State are very prestigious programs,” District 4A Commander George Wooden said.

Chandler hires new coaches

New faces will be found on the sidelines of the court and mat this upcoming season. During the monthly Chandler school board meeting, board members hired Joseph Shawn Blankenship as the head coach for the boys basketball team and John Childress as the head coach for the wrestling team.

The new top Tiger

When the temperature starts to drop and the Friday night lights turn on, the Stroud Tigers will have a new head coach leading them on the sidelines. Joshua Presley is the new head coach of the Stroud football team.
