Thanksgiving is a great time of the year. My wife Pat and I always look forward to Turkey Day. Once again we are really excited because our family is getting together and that includes our daughter Meghan, her husband Terry and their son Liam, (our grandson).

Three Lincoln County football teams played in the second round of the playoffs, with Stroud winning to advance to the class A quarterfinals while Meeker fell to Washington, 56-7, and Prague lost to Victory Christian, 52-39.

Arraignment set in Stroud man’s death

A Jennings man facing a manslaughter charge or in the alternative negligent homicide has been bound over to stand trial in the death of a Stroud man. Brent Lee Nobles, 43, was charged in Lincoln County District Court March 23. A $15,000 bench warrant was issued at that time for his arrest.

Incitement to riot

A Lincoln County jail inmate, who has been previously convicted of at least five felonies, has been charged in connection with a recent riot at the jail.

Murder suspect gets five more felony charges

A man awaiting trial on a first degree murder charge, who was handed prison terms on five non-related felonies last November, and now faces five more felonies he allegedly committed while in the Lincoln County jail, has waived his preliminary hearing on the newest charges.

How to cook a turkey

As is our Thanksgiving tradition at the Lincoln County News, we asked first-graders at area elementary schools to give us recipes for cooking turkeys. You might find a few ideas to try for yourself this Thanksgiving. Here are two recipes we thought were especially interesting.

Lincoln County pair charged with child abuse

Bench warrants have been returned and filed on a woman from Meeker and a man from Shawnee who have been charged with felony child abuse. Megan Marie Nash, 35, Meeker and Jonathon Lee Nice, 36, Shawnee were formally charged in Lincoln County District Court on Sep. 22.
