Hearings continued for Tryon ex-officials

Pre-preliminary hearings have been continued for two of three former officials with the City of Tryon facing embezzlement and conspiracy charges as the result of a special investigative audit have made their initial appearances and their prepreliminary hearings have been scheduled.

Salute to Veterans coming in November

The Lincoln County News will publish a Salute to Veterans in the edition of Nov. 10. The quickly approaching deadline to submit photos is 5 p.m. Oct. 31. The earlier you submit them, the better. The salute will include photos and each veteran’s name, rank and years of service.

Meeker schools had a farming heritage day last week with displays and exhibits on old-time hay baling, rope making, churning butter and more. Meeker Elementary brought students to the displays, where they were able to ask questions, meet Cheryl the Jersey cow and pet farm animals.

Gary Lynn Sparks was born on September 23, 1962, in Bristow, OK and died on October 9, 2022, in Stroud, Ok at the age of 60. Gary was the son of Joyce (McDaniel) and Carl R. Sparks. He had been a resident of Stroud for 30 years. He attended Stroud High School graduating in 1981.

Chandler High School recently announced that the October Lions of the Month are Trever Spruill and Laryssa Nunn. Trever is the son of Kevin and Celeste Spruill. As a senior at Chandler High School Spruill maintains an unweighted GPA of 3.89. He has also taken four years of Advanced English classes.
