Alsip and Goodman are Lions of the Month

Chandler High School seniors Andrew Alsip and Sarah Goodman have been named November Lions of the Month by the Lion’s Club. Andrew, the son of Andy Alsip and Kathryn Alsip, has been a student at the Pre-Engineering Academy at Gordon Cooper Technology Center in Shawnee, Okla., since 2019.

Huffman named Assistant VP

UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas named Kim Huffman Assistant Vice President of Patient Financial and Access Services effective September 13. Huffman is a 1980 graduate of Stroud High School and a 1989 graduate of the University of Central Oklahoma.

Meeker board approves $8 mil estimate of needs

Meeker’s Board of Education has approved the final Estimate of Needs for 2021-2022. School Supt. Jeff Pruitt explained to the board the 2021-2022 Estimate of Needs totals $8,132,750. Board members also approved the expenditure budget by bold function codes.

Seven more COVID deaths

The number of COVID-19 deaths in Pottawatomie and Lincoln Counties increased only by seven compared to last week, and new positive cases rose only a little more than 100, the most recent Oklahoma State Department of Health figures show.
