Meeker resolution for election

The Meeker Board of Education this week adopted a resolution calling for the annual school election. On the ballot will be Office No. 2. School Supt. Jeff Pruitt confirmed that seat is now held by Bret Wood who was not in attendance at Monday night’s meeting. The filing period is from Monday, Dec.

Six-year sentence in starvation case

The dad of a Meeker youth who was convicted in June by a jury of child neglect, has been sentenced to serve six years in state prison. Jimmy Lee Jones, Sr., 37, of Meeker, was convicted of nearly starving to death his son almost three years ago.

Few details in shooting

Agents with the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation continue to look into a shooting that occurred last week in Stroud. Brook Arbeitman, with the OSBI, said Tuesday, “There are no updates yet. Agents still are working on the case.

Two in a row for Stroud

Stroud rolled up up 377 yards of total offense, plenty enough to post a 50-28 win over Liberty Friday night. Stroud jumped in front early with an 11-yard touchdown run from Dylan Collins in the first period and kept the pedal down, taking a 50-14 lead in he fourth quarter.

McLoud loses close one

For the McLoud Redskins, who already have suffered injuries to several key plays this year, it didn’t get any better during a close 34-27 homecoming loss to Mount St. Mary’s last week.

Davenport pushes record to 5-0

It’s homecoming this week as the Davenport Bulldogs host Foyil for the district opener after they walloped Yale 52-6 at Bulldog Stadium last week to run their season record to a perfect 5-0. It was Davenport’s final non-district contest. Davenport Coach John Greenfield said kickoff is at 7:30 p.m.
