Bad news on the quail scene

A couple of weeks ago, my good friend Steve Buoy and I journeyed out to western Oklahoma and enjoyed a fall turkey hunt. We each bagged a gobbler as did one of Steve’s cousins, Denton, who happened to be out there and hunted with us.

Playoffs: Round 2

It was just four weeks ago that a short-handed Meeker team came to Chandler and got handled, 30-0. The game was a low point in the season for the Bulldogs.

New record

Stroud falls at Colcord

Stroud got out to a 14-0 lead in the first half, but fell to Colcord in the first round of the Class A playoffs. Blake Parrick hit Dylan Collins on a 6-yard scoring pass early in the second quarter, putting Stroud up 6-0, and found him again just before halftime for a 14-yard touchdown.

Lions pound Alva

Chandler dominated its first-round playoff game against Alva Friday night, building a 21-6 lead in the first quarter and winning, 49-19.

Meeker comeback win

The Bulldogs trailed 19-14 late in the game, but came up with three turnovers in the final five minutes to upend Perry, 26-19, Friday. The first of the four turnovers - and the one that coach D.J.

McLoud falls at Plainview, 41-6

McLoud High School’s football season came to an end last Friday night when the Redskins dropped a 41-6 decision to Plainview in the first round of the playoffs. Coach Rusty Hall said, “We just didn’t play very well. Collin (senior quarterback) Gibson wasn’t nearly as mobile with his injured knee.
