COVID cases keep climbing

The number of new positive COVID-19 cases in Pottawatomie and Lincoln Counties keeps climbing, the most recent Oklahoma State Department of Health figures show. Also, one new death has been reported in each county, according to the OSDH.

Burglary arrest: some items recovered

Area law enforcement officers and a Bristow police officer have arrested a man who is now charged with three counts of second degree burglary. And a woman also faces a second degree burglary count as well.

Wellston driver waives hearing in alcohol case

A driver from Wellston facing a felony count of driving while under the influence of alcohol and three other charges following his arrest by a state trooper, has waived his right to a preliminary hearing. Donald Gene Barnett, 51, was arrested by State Trooper Barrett Karlin on July 3.

Meeker’s Back to School Bash

Meeker Chamber of Commerce had to postpone its annual Independence Day celebration at Meeker Lake in July due to uncooperative weather, but restyled the event as a Back To School Bash and held it Saturday.

Charges against driver

A driver who was stopped on the Turner Turnpike now faces two felonies, one of those for trafficking in illegal drugs. A state trooper arrested David Robledo, 46, of Sherman Oaks, Calif., in early July on the turnpike. A $150,000 bond has now been issued for Robledo’s arrest.

BabyMobile coming to town

The BabyMobile, a mobile formula, food, and diaper pantry, will be in Chandler 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 31, at the Lincoln County Department of Human Services, 2020 E. First Street. Infant Crisis Services provides assistance to children from birth through age three.

Encountering problems with automation

The other morning before my wife Pat headed off to work, she asked me if I would have time to go over to her mom’s house. She explained her mom needed my assistance in canceling out a credit card she no longer uses nor needs. I of course replied that I’d be more than glad to handle that.
