Meeker Town Board: Special meeting

The Meeker Town Board of Trustees called a special meeting for Wednesday evening, Aug. 25, to discuss Town Administrator Dickie Walton. Because the paper went to press on Tuesday evening, Aug. 24, the Trustees’ action will be reported in the next issue, Sep. 2.

Lincoln County Fair next week

The Lincoln County Fair is but a few days with the opening scheduled for next Wednesday evening, Sep. 1, at the Fairgrounds in Chandler. Jessica Riggin, Lincoln County Extension Director, assures everyone, “We’re having a fair.” She said it opens this year with the swine show beginning at 6:30 p.

Stroud man dies in crash

A Stroud man died in a two-vehicle, head-on collision south of Crescent in Logan County, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports. State Trooper Michael Wallace of the Traffic Homicide Unit identified the Stroud man as Kim L. Flatt, 32.

Arrest made in converter case

A Chandler man, previously convicted of several felonies, was recently arrested by Lincoln County deputies and charged with stealing two catalytic converters. Formal charges of grand larceny were filed July 21 in Lincoln County District Court against Justin Travis Ramsey, 33.

Assault case in Meeker

A Meeker man has been arrested by Meeker police after they responded to a call of domestic abuse by strangulation and he faces a felony count. Formal charges of Domestic Assault and Battery by strangulation were filed July 7 in Lincoln County District Court against Darin Dean Owen, 47.

Guilty plea entered in drug case

A Chandler man has pleaded guilty to trafficking illegal drugs and distribution of a controlled dangerous substance as the result of a plea bargain agreement with the district attorney.

New teachers at Dale

The Dale Board of Education has hired several new employees as the 2021-2022 school year got under way on Wednesday, Aug. 11. Following about a 20-minute executive session, board members returned to open meeting. They hired Marty Shirey as an Elementary Physical Education teacher.

Meeker school board

Meeker Schools’ enrollment is showing an increase, principals informed Board of Education members this week. Classes for the 2021- 2022 school year begin today (Aug. 12), and principals at the elementary, middle school, high school and Meeker Education Center all indicated their enrollments are up.
