COVID climbs

The number of deaths attributed to COVID-19 has increased in both Pottawatomie and Lincoln Counties over the past the week. The Oklahoma State Department of Health reports three more people have died in Pottawatomie County and there is one additional death in Lincoln County.

Meeker Pumpkin Festival

The Annual Pumpkin Festival hosted by the Meeker Growth and Development was a huge success. The Festival is held annually on the first Sat. of Oct. this year’s date was Oct. 3.

Local dairy farm donates to Helping Hands

To help get more milk and dairy foods to those who need it, local dairy farmers helped provide a refrigerated cooler to Helping Hands Community Foundation and Food Pantry in Chandler. A one-time donation of whole milk was also made to provide nutritious dairy to the community.

Meeker discuss rates

The Meeker Town Board, sitting as the Meeker Public Works Authority this week, tabled an agenda item on raising water, sewage and trash rates for Meeker residents and businesses.

Stroud’s Beta Sigma Phi meet

Members of Stroud’s Beta Sigma Phi chapter kicked off its new year with plans to continue regular meetings with social distancing. Business meetings will be held at the American Legion building on the second and fourth Mondays, September through May.

COVID deaths rise

Lincoln County has recorded five more deaths attributed to COVID-19 in the last week and Pottawatomie County has recorded an additional death as well, the Oklahoma State Department of Health says. The two latest deaths in Lincoln County are both males in the 65 and older age group, the OSDH said.

Stroud residents run OKC half marathon

Three Stroud residents crossed another item off their bucket list this month. Sunday, Oct. 4, Julie Bivin, Elizabeth Lau and Tiffany Morris ran the Oklahoma City Run to Remember half marathon. Bivin started running at 63-years-old said it was on her bucket list to run a 5k by the time she was 65.
