Danny Alsip: “It changes your perspective”

The first sign something was going wrong was when Danny Alsip couldn’t taste his sandwich. He and his wife, Rinda, were visiting their granddaughter in Arizona for Thanksgiving last year and stopped for sandwiches at a Jersey Mike’s.

Stroud National Bank announces merger

Stroud National Bank will merge with First Bank & Trust Co., headquartered in Duncan, the banks have announced. First Bank & Trust Co. plans to acquire all stock of Stroud National Bank, at which time the Stroud bank will be merged into First Bank & Trust Co.

Ambulance district considered

Lincoln County commissioners this week tabled taking any action on funding for subsidizing ambulance services or forming a 522 Ambulance District. They put off taking any action until at least their April 19 meeting, and possibly even until their May 3 meeting.

No resolution on Meeker gas bill

Meeker School Supt. Jeff Pruitt said this week he has sent a letter of protest to a third party gas vendor about the exorbitant bill the district received in March. Along with the letter, he sent a payment that he believes was appropriate, he noted.

McLoud Council

McLoud City Council members have adopted a resolution seeking a Community Development Block Grant to continue improvements to the city’s wastewater system in the Heritage Park Addition. City Manager Buck Day explained the grant would be for $299,999 and the city’s leverage amount is $63,500.

Elections next week

Voters in some area communities in Pottawatomie and Lincoln counties will decide school board and municipal contests in next week’s April 6 election.

Felonies filed in December car chase

A man from Stroud has been charged with a total of four felonies in two different cases and a Stroud woman faces two felonies in connection with some of the counts against the man.

Charges filed in battery case

A Sparks woman faces a felony and a misdemeanor following her arrest earlier this month by Lincoln County deputies. Riki Dawn Bales, 48, was formally charged in Lincoln County District Court on March 11 with Battery/Assault and Battery on a police officer and obstructing an officer.

Two felonies in February arrest

A Lincoln County driver faces six charges following his arrest in late February by a state trooper and Chandler police. Chance Don Goodman, 35, of Chandler, faces two felonies and four misdemeanors.
