To the Editor: I am writing to express my concerns about the upcoming proposal for Lincoln County to form an Emergency Medical Service District, funded by a recurring ad valorem tax of three mills on the dollar of assessed property valuation.

Abundant technology

We live in a world surrounded by technology. The technological advances are moving so quickly it’s mind boggling to people like me.Someone mentioned the other day he wondered what we did before the advent of cell phones. He was a person in his 60s and he is a person I’d consider tech savvy.

Prague man waives hearing

A Prague man has waived his preliminary hearing on a charge of felony assault and battery charge following a reported altercation with his girl friend.Trevor Wade Mills, 23, was formally charged in Lincoln County District July 10 this year with domestic assault and battery by strangulation.

Chandler woman’s hearing rescheduled

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for a Chandler woman facing a felony and two misdemeanors. A Chandler man facing the same charges pleaded innocent recently.Formal charges were filed in Lincoln County District Court on March 15 this year against Herbert Lee Gaines, Jr.

Terrorism punishment

When media reports began to break a couple of weeks ago about charges being filed against a citizen of Afghanistan residing in Oklahoma City for conspiring to conduct an Election Day terrorist attack in the United States, it immediately caught my attention.

Will Rogers is coming to town on Sunday, November 10th to help us honor our veterans.The American Legion Auxiliary is hosting this event at Stroud United Methodist Church at 2:00 p.m. All veterans and those currently serving are invited to attend free of charge.

Highlanders

Kindra and I went to the annual Highland Gathering in Choctaw Saturday to mingle a bit with those who carry samples of the same DNA we do.Neither Kindra nor I knew we had much Scottish ancestry until we took DNA tests.Turns out, she is more Scottish than anything. Close to 40 percent,or thereabouts.
