Trial set in death of Stroud man

A Jennings man facing a manslaughter charge or in the alternative negligent homicide in the death of a Stroud man has been set for the felony disposition docket in May. Brent Lee Nobles, 43, was charged in Lincoln County District Court March 23.

I came back to the house Monday after driving to the newspaper office and thought: “That’s weird. It looks like the trash can is smoking.” Turns out, it was smoking. About an hour earlier, I had cleaned out the fireplace ashes and tossed a plastic sack of them into the trash can.

Worrisome school trends

I saw and read last Friday where a student showed up at a Middle School in Oklahoma City with a weapon and fired it in the bathroom of the facility. Thank goodness no one was injured, but the school was on a lockdown for awhile.

Don and Ta at GiGi’s donuts are back from vacation and the donut shop is once again open for business. I don’t know how Stroud made it without a donut shop for as long as we did, before GiGi’s opened. Everyone was missing their morning donuts but no worries, the donuts are back!

Wellston woman injured in crash

A three-vehicle traffic collision on SH 66 west of Wellston injured a Wellston woman after she was pinned for nearly 30 minutes. State Trooper Conner Fryrear identified the injured woman as Andrea M. Clardy, 37.

Arrests made in burglaries

Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputies have arrested several individuals reportedly connected with recent burglaries in a couple of different cases. In one, several driver’s licenses, Social Security cards and credit cards were confiscated. Some of those allegedly involved face multiple charges.

Chandler Council approves sub-division plat

The Chandler City Council approved the final plat for Phase One of the Chandler Meadows subdivision at their monthly meeting on Jan. 1, among other items. The first phase has about 59 lots, though the entire subdivision, when finished, will have 240 homes, according to City Manager Jason Orr.
