Kingdom of Heaven

We all need to remember that Jesus taught the kingdom of God, and that’s what He said we must enter into. So, we really need to take seriously the fact that Jesus died so that we can be forgiven, and now we can enter in, but we must remember the ways of man are not found there.

Cold weather

I came back to the house Monday after driving to the newspaper office and thought: “That’s weird. It looks like the trash can is smoking.” Turns out, it was smoking. About an hour earlier, I had cleaned out the fireplace ashes and tossed a plastic sack of them into the trash can.

Worrisome school trends

I saw and read last Friday where a student showed up at a Middle School in Oklahoma City with a weapon and fired it in the bathroom of the facility. Thank goodness no one was injured, but the school was on a lockdown for awhile.

Don and Ta at GiGi’s donuts are back from vacation and the donut shop is once again open for business. I don’t know how Stroud made it without a donut shop for as long as we did, before GiGi’s opened. Everyone was missing their morning donuts but no worries, the donuts are back!

County commissioners set Fair Board election

Dale board votes to fix roof

Dale Board of Education members this week approved a contract with a roofing company and voted to use County Education sales tax funds to purchase a school bus. Board members approved a contract with Coryell Roofing to repair and fix those roofs that were damaged by hail. School Supt.

Anticipating this week’s winter storm it got me to thinking about when I was kid and how much I looked forward to the snow. If it snowed enough, that meant we would be out of school. Along with the other kids in our neighborhood we could make snowmen, go sledding, have all kinds of fun.

Thanks again to everyone who donated money to purchase a wreath to honor our veterans at Stroud Cemetery this Christmas. Volunteers picked up the wreaths this past Sunday and Town Talk appreciated their help very much.

17 locals make honor roll at OBU

Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, Oklahoma, recently announced the students named to the university’s academic honor roll for the fall 2023 semester. Seventeen students from the region were named to three different lists.

February trial date set in murder case

A jury trial has been scheduled in February for a Harrah man who charged with first degree murder nearly three years ago. Cole Berginer Guy, 19 at the time, and now 20, was formally charged Feb.
