The citizens have spoken and members of the Town Board of Trustees have listened. There will be no annexation of eight square miles into Meeker’s town limits, at least as long as the current Board of Trustees are concerned.

Town Talk

Things are moving along on the miniature golf course. We had problems with rain leaks, but David Evans and Charlie Webb think they figured out how to fix them. Keep your fingers crossed that the building is dry after our next rain.

Crawfish Festival

The Chandler Area Chamber of Commerce will host the 5th Annual Bell Cow Boil Crawfish Festival, 5-9 p.m., Friday, April 29. The event will be in the south pavilion of Tilghman Park in Chandler. Tickets are on sale for $20 each. Under age six is free with paid adult ticket.

For those avid turkey hunters who are thinking the spring season opens next Wednesday, April 6, State Game Warden Mike France reminds them that isn’t so. The Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation Commission has changed that to April 16, 10 days later.

The Chandler Public Library will celebrate National Library Week April 4-9, by again waiving fines. If you have overdue books, return them that week and fines will be waived. The Library still has copies of “Juniper’s Butterfly Garden.

Sidewalk progress

Construction on nearly a mile of sidewalk improvements on Park Road in the city of Chandler is about one-third complete, City Manager James Melson estimated this week. Melson has explained the project runs from Park Road Elementary School extending east.

School elections

Early voting begins today for next Tuesday’s school board elections that include contests in three area school districts. School patrons in the McLoud, Dale and Perkins-Tryon school districts will decide board races.
