Dale wins battle of No. 1s

A last minute change in the schedule last weekend due to the weather put two No. 1 teams in different classes squaring off against one another. The Dale Pirates, ranked No. 1 in Class 2A, defeated Roff, ranked No. 1 in Class B, 34-27 in a contest played at Vanoss.

Larry Randall “Randy” Ashcraft

Larry Randall “Randy” Ashcraft, 62, of Chandler, Okla., passed away Saturday, January 29, 2022 in Edmond, Okla. He was born August 26, 1959 to Larry Don and Virginia Evelyn (Johnson) Ashcraft in Shawnee, Okla. Randy was raised in Tecumseh, Okla., and attended Tecumseh Public Schools.

Vernon Edward Janway

Vernon Edward Janway was born to Cordie Lee and Ethel Marie (Fox) Janway on December 28, 1941, in Howe, Okla. He died Saturday, February 5, 2022, at his home in Wellston. He was 80 years old. Vernon enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Kathryn Diann Fell

Kathryn Diann Fell was born March 8, 1959 in Edmond, Okla., to Mack and Diann (Hudson) Hale. She passed away February 5, 2022 in Stillwater, Okla., at the age of 62. Kathy enjoyed classic cars, quilting, and winning at Fortnite. She loved her “kids” and her dogs along with all animals.

Kenneth Wayne Criess

Kenneth Wayne Criess was born June 3, 1936, in Stroud and died Saturday, January 29, 2022. He was 85 years old. Criess was the son of Walter and Alzenia (Rainwater) Criess. He married Barbara Pomeroy Criess on May 19, 1955, in Stroud. A 1954 graduate of Stroud High School, he worked as a welder.

Lincoln County Commissioners

Lincoln County commissioners this week voted to set a hearing on vacating right-of-way located at 3340 Road between the West Turnpike entrance and Route 66 in Wellston. They agreed to set the hearing for the commissioners meeting on March 21.

Bench warrant in car chase

A $15,000 bench warrant has been issued for the arrest of a driver who reportedly eluded police during a high speed pursuit following a traffic stop. Nicholas James Worden, 42, of Stroud, was formally charged in Lincoln County District Court on Jan.

January Rotarians

Chandler High School seniors Khiana Sudbrock and Aubrey Vaughan were named student members of the Rotary Club for January 2022. Khiana Sudbrock, the daughter of Khristian Sudbrock, has three younger siblings.

Four counts for Stroud man

A Stroud man is facing four counts, three of them drug-related, following his arrest by Stroud police. Formal charges were filed Jan. 14 in Lincoln County District Court against Bobby Don Stewart.
