A bench warrant issued for a Wellston area man has been returned and filed and his initial appearance is set for next month. Keith Allan Watkins, 45, was formally charged on April 30 in Lincoln County District with domestic abuse-assault and battery.

Fatal shooting

An argument over property reportedly led to the shooting death of a 21-year-old Lincoln County man Monday afternoon. Lincoln County Sheriff’s Capt. Chuck Brewer, also an investigator, identified the shooting victim as Lucas Goss, 331824 Oak Meadow, located about a ¼ mile west of SH 102.

Too much water

For a region known for its blinding sun and sweltering heat, rainfall is often a blessed relief. Over the past week or so, torrential rainfall has forced outdoor workers to adapt to wet working conditions. “There’s nothing good about all this rain,” Stroud Lake ranger Jared Null said.

Senior Citizen Center to reopen

The Chandler Senior Citizens Center dining hall will reopen on July 6. Due to COVID-19, the Center closed its dining room hall. The Center opted to create and use a curbside service to pass out the meals it has been passing out for a plethora of years.

Resurfacing for SH18 to start next week

Resurfacing of SH 18 between Meeker and Chandler is expected to begin shortly after the July 4 holiday, Meeker’s Town Administrator has confirmed. Town Administrator Dickie Walton stated he was told by an Oklahoma Department of Transportation official the project will begin Tuesday, July 6.

Formal charges in grow house bust

The owner of a major marijuana growing operation that was seized by law enforcement officers has been formally charged with two felonies, but has failed to make her initial appearance in court. Sai Ying Lin, 48, of Tryon, was formally charged in Lincoln County District Court June 22.

McLoud hires new deputy city clerk

The McLoud City Council appointed a new deputy city clerk during its most recent meeting and members also tabled five agenda items. Mayor Stan Jackson declared after the meeting, “We tabled more items tonight than we have at any other meeting since I’ve been mayor.

Lincoln County Democrats to meet

The Lincoln County Democrats will meet 7 p.m., Thursday, July 8, at the County Courthouse in Chandler. There will be discussion on the upcoming bond issue election as well as planning activities for the County Fair.
