Lincoln County reconsiders new jail

Lincoln County Commissioners have taken action aimed at building a new county jail rather than renovating the current one.

Millage levies decline in 11 districts

Eleven of Lincoln County’s 16 school districts have tax millage levies that are lower in 2020 than in 2019 according to Jackie Holcomb, Lincoln County Assessor, which will mean lower taxes for many property owners.

Meeker to raise rates

The Meeker Town Board, meeting as the Public Works Authority, voted this week to raise water, sewer and trash rates effective Dec 1. The board approved an ordinance and emergency clause raising the minimum rates for each by $1 a month.

Agra public schools approves drivers Ed program Agra approved a Drivers Ed program to be taught by Superintendent Jeff Kelly throughout the fall semester. “We started off offering Drivers Ed in the summer a couple years ago,” he said.

COVID cases rise in McLoud

Teachers and students in the McLoud School District won’t see the inside of a classroom until Monday, Nov. 30, as it stands now. School Supt. Steve Stanley said the doors were locked up at the end of classes on Thursday, Nov. 12. “We’ve just been inundated by COVID-19.

State Senator charged in turnpike crash

A state senator has been formally charged with first degree manslaughter, accused of causing the death of a Bristow man in a fatal traffic collision in May. Allison Michelle Ikley-Freeman was charged in Lincoln County District Court last week with the felony.
