Back in January, I felt really bad. Part of it was lingering guilt from eating too much of the coconut cream pie at Christmas, but mostly it felt like a colony of sloths had moved into my chest and head. Coughing, headache, lots of congestion, muscle aches and an overwhelming sense of tiredness.

The joys of taking a trip

I remember the smell of the coffee bean farms during my missions trip to Costa Rica in 2009. The smell was earthy and energizing. I remember the feeling of the sand between my toes at the Dead Sea in Israel in 2018. It felt gritty and exfoliating.

COVID-19 numbers reach 300

The number of people testing positive for COVID-19 in Lincoln County has bumped to the 300 mark this week. In Lincoln and Pottawatomie Counties, the positive numbers combined now stand at 1,175 as of Tuesday, according to the Oklahoma State Department of of Health.

Comm. approve two IT quotes

Lincoln County Commissioners have approved two I.T. quotes to connect three county offices to the new I.T. infrastructure. The approval came during a special meeting held last week. Lincoln County Clerk Alicia Wagnon explained, “Both quotes are from Apprentice in Tulsa.

Carney man injured in wreck

Meeker FFA: Top 10

The Meeker FFA Chapter is one of 10 national finalists for the 2020 Model of Excellence, presented by the National FFA Organization. Meeker Ag teacher Logan Johns said he is proud of his students and humbled to be a part of this journey with them.

Next week: county fair

The Lincoln County Fall Free Fair starts today and continues through Saturday. There will be no carnival this year, but the livestock shows and table top exhibits will go on. People can attend the livestock shows, but not view the table top exhibits.

Livestock show set for Pott County

A stock show open to any 4-H and FFA student in Pottawatomie County is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 12, at the Bethel Ag Boosters Barn beginning at 8 a.m. Sarah Weeks, coordinator for the show, said the barn is located just west of the Shawnee Milling Co. Feed Center on Hardesty Road.
