COVID cases keep on the rise

The number of deaths attributed to COVID-19 has increased by three in Pottawatomie County in the last few days, the Oklahoma State Department of Health reports.

New car dealer for Wellston

A new car dealership is expected to open in the Town of Wellston in late 2021. Wellston’s Municipal Administrator John Cobb confirmed a Ford Franchise dealership is to be located just east of the Turner Turnpike bridge on U.S. 66. “It will be just south of the eastbound exit,” Cobb said.

No action on county raises

Lincoln County Commissioners in a meeting late last week took no action regarding salary increases for county officers.

Meeker sets election for Town Board seats

The Meeker Town this week adopted a resolution calling for an election in 2021. Three seats will be on the ballot. The three-day filing period will be from Feb. 1-3 and the General Election is April 6, 2021, Lincoln County Election Board Secretary Melissa Stambaugh said.

Tigers make All-District

Stroud brought home some major post-season District A-7 awards, which were released this week. Chasen Neuman, left, was named the district’s special teams player of the year and Will Pittman, center, was chosen as inside linebacker of the yeaar.

Bulldogs win, go to 4-2

Babek, Rudd sign for college

Kaycee Babek from Meeker and Jaxon Rudd form McLoud signed letter to play college sports last week. Rudd, left, with sister Integra DeHart, mother Brandy Rudd, brother Balyn DeHart and stepdad Matt Mercer, signed to play football with Sterling College in Kansas.

Funeral services will be held for Helen Clariece Woody at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2020 at Jesus First Baptist Church in Stroud. Burial will follow at Stroud Cemetery with care services provided by Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Stroud. Woody, 78, was born to Cleveland Woody Sr.
